‘YOUTH OF UZBEKISTAN: ASPIRATIONS, NEEDS AND RISKS’ STUDY
Campaign goal:
A two-year project, 2019-2020, aimed at increasing the potential of young people in the most important aspects of life, including education, employment, migration, family, social and economic issues (employment, ecology, media literacy), studying their aspirations and needs.
Partners:
The project was implemented jointly with the Youth Union of Uzbekistan with support of UNICEF Office in Tashkent.
What is done?
Two strategic dialogues were conducted:
1 February 2019 – ‘Actual tasks of reforming the system of social protection of children in Uzbekistan’;
25 June 2019 – ‘Human Capital Development: Education for the Future’;
‘The Voice of Youth Is Important’ dialogues were organized in four regions of the country (Nukus, Muynak District, Urgench and Ferghana);
120 young people aged 14-30 participated in the events;
More than 100 proposals and recommendations were received from young people, including on popularizing reading by creating book corners and small libraries in public places, organizing career centers in regional universities.
