Project "Sustainable Policy Planning for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Uzbekistan"
Project goal: to improve sustainable planning of Uzbekistan's climate change policy by strengthening the capacity of local governments, raising public awareness of the socio-economic consequences of climate change and promoting public involvement in the decision-making process.
Project objectives :
- development of cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Latvia;
- development and provision of proposals to improve sustainable policy planning to mitigate the effects of climate change to improve the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
- strengthening the capacity of decision makers, local governments, representatives of civil society institutions of Uzbekistan on integrated climate change management and disaster risk reduction;
- promoting the integration of gender equality in planning and developing action plans in the field of climate change, as well as protecting women and children from climate change;
- raising public awareness of the socio-economic consequences of climate change and promoting their involvement in the decision-making process.
Pilot regions: Bukhara and Surkhandarya regions
