Anticipated outcomes
Pillar 1 is implemented by the World Bank, and aims at supporting effective, evidence-based design and delivery of economic policies. This will include supporting governments to generate better data and evidence, use this data for policy design and implementation, improved coordination within government on policy implementation, and better engagement with citizens – on policy reform issues such as Labour Code, Green Growth, Urbanization, SOE Reform, Public Procurement, Tax and Customs.
Pillar 2 is implemented by ACTED & Nationwide Movement “Yuksalish” in Uzbekistan from July 1, 2021 – October 31, 2025, to support civil society and media to better engage in and support the policy reform processes and support the Government of Uzbekistan to deliver economic reforms that respond to the needs of citizens and private sector, also through improved application of data and evidence.
What has been done:
1. A methodology for primary research has been developed within the framework of the “Civil Society for Accountability” project.
2. In order to jointly implement social partnership the existing obstacles and problems were studied towards the effective communication of civil society, government bodies and business circles.
3. In March 2022, focus group discussions and consultations were organized in 5 regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
4. On June 16, 2022, a round table on building capacity of network cooperation and civil society monitoring in the field of labor relations was held. 39 offline and online participants.
5. On June 29, 2022, a round table on the topic “The role of coalitions and the media in improving labor legislation” took place. 36 offline and online participants.
6. In September, 6 regional trainings were organized in Tashkent, Bukhara, Karshi, Nukus, Fergana.
7. Regional trainings for civil society and business (trade unions and professional unions) on “The tools of the monitoring of the Labor legislation”
8. Regional trainings for business associations and trade unions to support raising awareness and commitment to green growth among representatives of private and public sector
