RURAL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
Project goal:
Improving the quality of basic social infrastructure facilities and related services to ensure the life of the population of the settlements covered by the project; improving the local self-government system with the involvement of local people in assessing the basic needs of their communities, as well as in the decision-making process for their further development.

Partners:
The project is being implemented jointly with the World Bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Intended outcomes:
More than 300 settlements in Andijan, Ferghana, Namangan, Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions of Uzbekistan will be able to receive funding to improve the quality of basic social infrastructure in these settlements;
The settlements covered by the project will be able to receive financing for the implementation of infrastructure sub-projects in their settlements (including the restoration of existing drinking water supply and sewerage systems;
modernization of public buildings in order to increase their energy efficiency; restoration of social infrastructure facilities, etc.).
What is done?
As part of the first phase of the project, the Nationwide Movement Yuksalish completed the process of decision-making by local residents on infrastructure in 16 mahallas of Pakhtaabad district, 5 mahallas of Bulakbashi district, 10 mahallas of Markhamat district of Andijan region and 5 mahallas in Sokh district of Fergana region.
Sub-projects in each mahalla were identified based on the needs of the communities living in the abovementioned territories, and on the comprehensive social analysis. The sub-projects were handed over to the project implementation team.
