Youth of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan Spotlight Environmental Initiatives
The "Yuksalish" Movement participated in the "Second Youth Forum of the Syrdarya River Basin – 2024," which took place in the city of Guliston, Sughd Region (Tajikistan).
The "Youth Environmental Protection Group" organized the event within the framework of the National Water Resource Management Project of the Republic of Tajikistan, with the support of the Main Department of Environmental Protection of Sughd Region and the Executive Body of State Authority of Sughd Region.
Schoolchildren accompanied by teachers from Tashkent, Fergana, and Andijan regions, as well as representatives of the Republican Center "Tarakkiyot" and the Andijan branch of the NGO "Istiqbolli Avlod," also took part in the forum.
The activities of the "Green Patrols" of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan were presented as part of the forum. The eco-groups shared success stories, organized master classes and quests, and awarded "Green Patrol" teachers. Dilafruza Ismailova, Director of School No. 24 in the Qurgonteppa district of the Andijan region was among those recognized.
"The Youth Forum has become an important event for Central Asia, as it helps bring the younger generation together in their efforts to address environmental and water issues in the region," noted Saida Mustafaeva, Head of the Civil Society Institutions Department of Yuksalish. "The forum not just raises environmental awareness but also serves as a platform for building a sustainable future, where natural resources are used wisely and the environment and economy grow in harmony."
The forum created a platform for dialogue among the youth from the countries of the region, addressing important environmental issues aimed at shaping ecological thinking and more sustainable practices for using natural resources. The youth can become a driving force behind these changes, spreading knowledge and engaging local communities in environmental initiatives.
