The Yuksalish Movement to Join the Civil Society Coalition for the Implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption

On June 12-16, the delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by the Chairman of Nationwide Movement Yuksalish Bobur Bekmurodov, took part in the 14th session of the Implementation Review Group of the UN Convention against Corruption, held by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Vienna, Austria.

As part of the session, the delegation also participated in a briefing for NGOs on the results of the review process and the need for technical assistance, held a number of meetings with representatives of international organizations and think tanks. In particular, on June 15, the Chairman of the Yuksalish Movement met with the Director of the UNODC Policy Analysis and Public Relations Division, Jean-Luc Lemahieu. The parties exchanged information about their organizations, ongoing projects and their results, as well as plans for the future.

As noted at the meeting, this July, the Anti-Corruption Agency will launch the world's third Anti-Corruption Hub in Central Asia, Samarkand. Uzbekistan, as the host country, will fuel these changes. The Anti-Corruption Laboratory, which is run by Yuksalish together with the Anti-Corruption Agency and with the Regional Dialogue Branch Office in Uzbekistan, was also highly commended. According to foreign experts, such surveys by NGOs demonstrate to commitment of the state in this area.

Following the meeting, UNODC representatives supported the initiative of the Yuksalish National Movement to join the Civil Society Coalition for the Implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption, expressing their readiness to provide all possible support in this direction.
