100 experts highlighted 15 most significant reforms of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev

  The period of 2017-2021 was marked in Uzbekistan by large-scale transformations initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Rapid reforms cover all spheres, including developing the state and society, judicial and legal system, economy and social sector, security, interethnic harmony and religious tolerance, foreign policy.

  The Nationwide movement “Yuksalish” conducted another expert survey to outline the most effective initiatives and reforms that have contributed to significant changes in the country over the past five years.

For reference: The expert survey is carried out every two years with the participation of 100 national and foreign experts from among leading politicians, economists, scientists, journalists, human rights defenders and other public figures. Experts form a list of the most significant initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and by voting determine key transformations of historical significance. In the course of an expert survey conducted in 2019, experts outlined 10 key initiatives of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

   According to the results of the global survey, this year the Top 15 key reforms of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of historical significance were formed. According to experts, the most important initiative of the leader of Uzbekistan is Establishment of good-neighborly relations in Central Asia, opening borders and creating checkpoints, constructive dialogue with Central Asian countries on all issues (96 votes).

The following initiatives have taken the corresponding positions in the list:

2. Liberalizing the currency market, eliminating cash flow problems.

3. Development of public services system, launch of public services centers, elimination of unnecessary red tape.

4. In the context of tourism development, introduction of visa-free regime for 90 countries and visa-free transit for nationals of 48 countries.

5. Strengthening guarantees for human right protection, elimination of forced labour, including child labour.

6. Introduction of a new system for the consideration of appeals from citizens and transparency of government bodies

7. Expansion of media space, strengthening of the role of mass media in society, and adoption of important state decisions

8. Raising gender equality issues in public policies, establishment of the Republican Gender Commission

9. Development of the system of higher education: increase of admission quota to higher education institutions, opening of branches of national and foreign universities

10. Improvement of the business environment in Uzbekistan, simplification of registration and management processes

11. Official recognition of poverty statistics and creation of an integrated approach to poverty reduction

12. Initiation of legal and institutional changes in the anti-corruption policy

13. Creation of youth Support systems

14. Introduction of a procedure for granting citizenship directly to stateless persons who have been permanently resident in Uzbekistan for 15 years

15. Creation of protective forest stands on the dried-up bottom of the Aral Sea. Launch of the United Nations multi-party trust fund on human security for the Aral Sea region, adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of a special resolution declaring the Aral Sea region a zone of ecological innovation and technology
